We've seen the upcoming Need For Speed film, and though we can’t say much (yet), we can tell you that it will make you enjoy car movies again. Sure, there was a plot, but the real meat of the film was in the racing sequences and police chases. Two things made this great– an epic collection of cars, featuring the NFS Ford Mustang, and the live action sequences conceived and executed by the production team. It will reset your expectations of what a car movie can be in the year 2014. Director Scott Waugh (below, right) and stunt coordinator Lance Gilbert (below, left) grew up in the industry.
After the director yells “Action” a custom CCX must push and flip a CCXR 30 feet into the air – at NASCAR speed – while chasing another supercar. Sounds impossible right? Well it pretty much is, and to make things more challenging the driver only gets one shot at this. This is the life of Lance Gilbert – Stuntman, Stunt Coordinator and action designer for the upcoming Need For Speed movie.
Our stunt coordinator, Lance Gilbert, has to be one of the best I have ever worked with. His energy and passion to think out of the box fell right into place with the way Scotty and I work together. He is always open for suggestions and his creative ideas for action are pretty incredible.
